Comme des Garçons

Fastskin LZR Racer

Elite technical sport meets avant garde fashion design

When the Speedo Olympic athletes stand on the blocks in Beijing, their LZR Racer suits will feature graphics designed by one of the world’s most influential fashion houses, Comme des Garçons. Our athletes will not only have the fastest, most innovative and powerful suit at Beijing but also the most beautiful.

Kokoro

Comme des Garçons has chosen one of celebrated Japanese artist's Inoue Yu-ichi's paintings to illustrate graphically on the LZR racer the expression of the ultimate force the swimmer needs to break world records.

The calligraphy graphic that forms the key graphic print is read as "kokoro" meaning heart, mind, spirit, feeling.

It could be called the expression of "personal best" or maximum effort. The synergy of man mastering his art and the athlete reaching his peak performance. The expression of an athlete’s ultimate journey to the pinnacle of endeavour – the gold medal.

"I was interested in expressing the energy, the will to win, the power that comes from the spirit, which finally determines the result. The art of Inoue Yu-ichi is bound by no ancient conventions of calligraphy. He works with great mental power, drawing close to the origin of things, pursuing with freshness and strength a sense of speed, the source of speed. When we combine the development of the highest technology that is the realm of Speedo, with the force and the spirit of the art of Yu-ichi, records will surely be broken"
