Tally of World Records broken in Speedo's LZR Racer rises to 27!

Day 3 at the FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) and the records just keep on tumbling with athletes from 4 nations setting a staggering 5 World Records.

Speedo sponsored athlete and crowd favourite Liam Tancock (GBR) started the night's proceedings by breaking yet another Championship Record in as little 3 days! Swimming in the Men's 50m Backstroke, Tancock raced his way into the lead and came home in under 100th of a second of the existing Championship Record set 8 years earlier by Neil Walker of the USA.

The Women's 100m Freestyle saw all 8 medal hopefuls line up in Speedo. The Netherlands Marleen Veldhuis, wearing a Speedo LZR Racer, stormed her way into the lead with the GBR's Francesca Halsall coming in a close second to win silver. Veldhuis finished the race equalling the current Championship Record at 52:17.

In the Women's 200m Backstroke final, Speedo sponsored athlete Kirsty Coventry, who set a Championship Record in the heats earlier this morning, led throughout the race setting a blistering pace. The current Olympic Silver medallist, won her 3rd Gold medal at the FINA World Swimming Championships (25m), shattering the World Record set by Reiko Nakamura of Japan with a time of 2:00.91. Commenting on her medal win and second World Record of the championships, Coventry said "I'm super excited about that time." Great Britain's Elizabeth Simmonds also came in under the existing World Record time, setting a British and European record of 2:02.60.

The Women's 100m Breaststroke semi final saw the USA's Jessica Hardy break another Championship Record in just two days! Hardy in a Speedo LZR Racer, smashed her way into the record books with a fantastic time of 1:04.63.

With a line up of some of the world's best swimmers in the Men's 200m Individual Medley this was set to be an exciting race. In his Speedo LZR Racer Ryan Lochte dived into first place to claim the Gold at a time of 1:51.56, setting yet another World Record. Speedo's Great Britain swimmers Liam Tancock and James Goddard claimed silver and bronze to the delight of the home crowd.

The Women's 4x100 Medley was a thrilling climax to a record-breaking day with Speedo sponsored teams the Netherlands, USA, Australia and Great Britain battling it out for gold. In the end the mighty USA team came home with an astonishing time of 3:51.36 shattering the existing World Record set by the Australian's in Shangai in 2006.

The Speedo medal tally now stands at 82. (30 gold, 30, silver and 22 bronze).
